History and Experiences Which have Affected Character Greatly*: Jerry showed an early talent for music. He studied piano with Joan Gimpel and composition, theory and counterpoint with Mary Tesconovich. He also attended classes in film composition at the University of Southern California. In 2350, he was employed as a arrangement handler in the music department at FBS. Here he was given his first embryonic assignments as a composer for holoshows such as 'Romance' and 'FBS Holograph Workshop'. He stayed with FBS until 2360, having already scored a large number of holoshows. He was hired by Revue Studios to score their Thriller series. It was here that he met the influential Kentauri film composer Alenzo Keatalir who hired Goldsmith to score the holofilm Lonely are the Brave, his first major feature film score. An experimentalist, Goldsmith constantly pushed forward the bounds of music: Planet of the Apes, a docudrama about the late Dr. Moreau included Klingon horns blown without mouthpieces and a bass clarinetist fingering the notes but not blowing. He is unafraid to use the wide variety of alien sounds and instruments which are now available, although he does not use them for their own sake.
He rose rapidly to the top of his profession in the early to mid-sixties. From then onwards his career and reputation was secure and he scored an astonishing variety of films from then to the present.
