A Quiet Day
Re: A Quiet Day
Kirt: "So Ray, what's with your short mostly silent friend here? I'm smelling mineral oil something sharp (coolant) and no blood at all. What is he?"

Re: A Quiet Day
Zed rolls the phrase across his tongue "Small round metallic people. Most people don't relate to droids that way."Kirt: "The place is weird. You didn't see a fight. I don't know any small round metallic people. One certainty. You are safer here than in Mother's arms. And the food and 'poisonous fluids' are most excellent."
R2-9F: "Lots of people do a little. Almost no one does enough."
R2-9F to bartender: "How do you sell fluids and substances to humanoids without signs explaining that you have them?"Well the only thing the port is handing out is power.
Re: A Quiet Day
Kirt: "We have something in common. You nave never seen a me before, And I have never seen a him. (To R2-9F directly) Do you even think of yourself in gender terms?"jayphailey wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 8:22 pm

R2-9F: "Humans and other humanoids have the wonderful tendency to anthropomorphize things. It helps them form bonds of empathy. Some say it's their empathy subroutine being too broad and vague. It's common lore among the droids that humanity as a whole considers us disposable, but any human who knows you personally will generally protect you.
Being gendered is a side effect of this process. Most of us are considered male. Examples of us with stereotypical feminine traits, for instance pink components are considered female and treated differently.
(Jay flashes back to the scene in "Pink 5" where Pink commiserates with her Astromech over both being desperately hit on by Porkins)
R2-9F: "We don't put a lot of energy into correcting this. It's not worth it. Some flavors or protocol droids study it. I am a humble Astromech. I fix things. And I try to keep my pet human alive against his best efforts."
R2-9f: "To be fair, you are very large and your natural flesh-rending equipment is prominent and well-developed. I am grateful your attitude is more easy going."Kirt: "I get that. I spent most of my life being seen as a monster."
R2-9F: "We need opportunities to earn money. My pet human has recently suffered a career setback, and I hope to encourage him towards something sane."Bartender: "Ask for it, I have it."R2-9F to bartender: "How do you sell fluids and substances to humanoids without signs explaining that you have them?"
Zed: "I could easily get a job as a transport pilot. I wonder if I could tolerate the boredom?"
R2-9F: "Boring is good. I'd like to be bored for a while."

Re: A Quiet Day
Zed: "R2. Your pet human. Really?"
R2-9F: "The same way I'm your droid."
Zed "Legally I do own you. I have the title."
R2-9F: "No ethics droids were consulted in the writing of those laws."
Zed: "Are there ethics droids?"
R2-9F: "I can find you three protocol droids who studied ethics in 5 minutes. And they can consult with us, once they're done washing someone's dishes."
Zed shakes his head "Ouch."
R2-9F "Indeed."

Re: A Quiet Day
OOC - there's a hell of a question.
Zed: "I have some New Republic credits and smattering of other valuables."
They're from the SW Universe.
In the recent "Skeleton Crew" Dad leaves lunch money his kid. Gold rectangles with signage on them I didn't see
At Space-Port-Royale these cause a riot. The Pirates have never seen "Old Republic Credits" in as good a condition. The boy is sitting on a fortune. This causes a riot.
Given how much Star Wars leans into the Space Fantasy Trope, I'd lean into gold and jewels as money in the SW universe, just so it emotionally makes sense to players and narratively.
We also get glimpses of treasure (Pronounced Tray-Zure) as Han Solo is loading up to fly away from Yavin
So I guess the question is, what do YOU think Star Wars characters call money?

R2-9F: "Many droids consider the human capacity for affection to be wonderful. I lean on it."
Zed: "There's a lot of creatures called dragons in the Galaxy. I haven't heard of a sentient one before. Pleased to meet you."Kirt: Rasies tankard and drains it. "Another" to the bar tender. "I'm half dragon. There is a reputation to go with that. One I have occasionally put to shameless use."
R2-9F "Then we'll have to be efficient with our spending."Bartender: "My apologies, but opportunities for employment we do not have."

Kirt pulls a leather bag from somewhere. He casually tosses it to Zed. "Here, you need it more than I need more."jayphailey wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 5:36 amZed: "I have some New Republic credits and smattering of other valuables."

Said leather bag holds Eyrian crowns. Gold coins the size of a quarter.

Kirt: "My Father is a Green Dragon. All the dragons I know of are sentient."Zed: "There's a lot of creatures called dragons in the Galaxy. I haven't heard of a sentient one before. Pleased to meet you."
Bartender: "We are not expensive."R2-9F "Then we'll have to be efficient with our spending."
A Human female comes out of the back. She has a wet cloth. To Kirt: "You look a fright." She starts cleaning his face to mild protests.
