Jae's Escape

"I'm here to kill you."

The fear killed the spores instantly. Jae the Ferengi squealed in fear. "Wait!"

"Why?"

"I have a lot of Latinum!" Jae said, with his voice quavering.

The Orion Assassin looked at him. "That's not what I heard."

"It's true. Listen I'm working a deal here. These people were all rich people. And they're paying me handsomely." Jae smiled hopefully.

"Okay. You have some Latinum. So?"

"I'm offering you a bribe not to kill me." Jae said slowly. For greedy people the Orions were occasionally slow. Jae could see the wheels turn in the man's head.

"It wouldn't help me if my reputation were destroyed" The Orion man said.

"I'll never tell a soul. I promise on the receipts for my mother's body." Jae said.

"Show me."

"Well, Ah, Okay. It's on my ship in orbit. You saw it there, right?" Jae said.

"Okay then." The Orion raised his disruptor.

"WAIT!" Jae quailed. "There are security systems. The ship will self destruct in you just beam in or something."

The Orion raised his disruptor. "Oh. So you disable the security, I take the Latinum and let you live?"

"Yes." Jae said.

"Done." The Orion said.

"Okay. We have to visit the wreck of my shuttlecraft so I can access the comm system."

"Let's do it."

Jae led the Orion Assassin back towards the main settlement.

Mister Jackson, the leader of the group of recoverees said "Hey, Jae. You have a new friend."

"Yes. He's just here doing some business! He won't bother us long." Jae said

Jackson smiled beautifically. "It's no bother at all."

Jae bounced cheerfully and almost skipped ahead to the shuttle.

The Orion Assassin said "Hold it Ferengi. Don't make me kill you."

Jae turned around with a carefully crestfallen look "okay, after you."

The Orion stuck his head inside the vandalized shuttle.

The plant, sensing motion let him have a full dose of spores

The Orion sat down heavily and grinned like an idiot. "Hey. That's pretty cool."

Jae gently took his disruptor away. "Isn't it though? What's your name?"

"Gerla." The Former assassin grinned. He looked momentarily serious. "I do have to kill you."

"Not right now," Jae said. "Now it's time to have some fun."

"Yeah. Let's have some fun instead." Gerla said dreamily.

Jae grinned. He might just get off this hell hole after all. "I bet you have a totally kick ass scout."

Gerla nodded "Oh yeah. It's painted black. It can really move, you know?"

Jae thanked his lucky stars that the Ekosians couldn't afford up market assassins from the Orion Syndicate.
