USS Discovery NCC 71805
- Ship Name USS Discovery NCC 71805
- Brief description of ship:
A Galaxy Class starship, Often spoken of as a cruise ship.
- Campaign role for the ship
To take the characters far out into trouble.
- Fleet role
Capital ship (Dreadnought, let's be real)/ Colonizer
- Age:
Approximately six years old.
- Built:
Finished in 2372
- Length:
642.5 Meters.
- Distinguishing Marks (Odd paint job, repair scars etc.)
The Discovery's main physical difference from a Stock Galaxy class are twelve
bulbs that protrude from the underside of her Saucer. These are twelve landing
crafts to help land the colony on their target world.
- Equipment Quirks and Problems:
The Galaxy class is the most complex machine ever designed by Starfleet. The
Discovery is actually a Galaxy 3.0 which entails many upgrades and equipment
changes. After Some time in deep space the Discovery's systems are showing signs
of cumulative damage and wear. After meeting with friendly races some of the
Discovery's equipment failures are patched over with technology borrowed from
alien sources. By the end of her mission this makes the Discovery a very unique
example of a galaxy class starship suitable for scientific study.
- Equipment Advantages
Compared to earlier Galaxy class starships the Discovery starts off with enhanced
Warp Drives and weapons. (So do all Galaxy class ships in service at that time)
But these advanced slowly erode away as the Discovery ages without proper maintenance.
- Shuttles, number, any odd ones?
The Discovery has an unspecified number of shuttles. It is known that she carries
at least two runabouts. At least three work bees (maybe more) and a full complement
of generic shuttles shuttles.
- Notable Previous Crew:
The Crew featured in ST-OM are the Discovery's first crew.
- Primary Power:
An advanced Warp Core.
- Secondary Powers:
A generic and standard Impulse system.
- Primary Weapons:
The Discovery's primary strike weapon is her Photon Torpedo launcher - capable
of firing a salvo of ten torpedoes at once. She has two, one facing forward
and one facing aft. The stock Galaxy has three, one in the Saucer section as
a chase gun. This was omitted in the Discovery's redesign.
- Secondary Weapons:
The Discovery has a full array of Type X phasers covering all arcs. The Discovery's
redesign omits the ventral Saucer array, but the battle section's ventral array
phasers can easily cover this arc.
