Introduction to Molly and Maria.

Who are Molly and Maria? Well, that's an interesting question. How pages do you have?

These people descend from the 1993-1997 Omega Squad Champions sessions. That could take pages and pages and pages to explain.

Molly is a brick. Super strong and super tough, with a super durable metabolism and an odd brain.

Maria is a speedster. She can run super fast, and has ridiculously fast and accurate reflexes.

Molly was one of my favorite characters. She started play as a very little girl (Age 6) The schtick was the cute little girl who could survive almost anything. She grew and developed, but never as far as I would have personally liked.

One of the things she acquired in the course of play was her best friend Anna-Maria Antonelli Giarelli.

At one point Maria, Molly and several other characters became lost in another dimension and had to try and find their way through numerous other dimensions (and every Game Book I had, Anime I watched, Every TV show and comic book that I thought was worth ripping off)

Eventually Molly and Maria found their way home. Molly is now a 30 some odd single mother working as an administrative officer for Omega Squad. Maria now flies space fighters from a UN base in Jamaica and has a fabulous tan.

I had some issues with the way Molly saw play in the later parts of her career, and so I tried to settle some of these issues by writing some of the things which I wish had been role played. This was also a writing exercise. It's difficult to make a functionally indestructible girl sympathetic.

I think I managed that difficult trick. The second Molly and Maria story, Arbophilia is really the sort of feel I'd like to keep for these characters. Arborphilia, by the way is a word I made up to suggest an unhealthy fascination for trees. The Tree City they visit actually made an appearance in Dream of mine many years ago.

The Third story "The Power Game" was working out another issue. The plot and the General outlines were suggested by Tracy "Lee" Birdine and April V Shelby. I always felt left out of, and unfulfilled by their failed attempt at co-writing a story.

I took the outlines of the plot and characters and revamped them adding Molly and Maria as spoilers.

Tracy has read this story and didn't spot the similarities. He doesn't recall the original story I was inspired by. I shudder to think what April Shelby might say, except I'd bet good money that she'll never read this.

The Power Game has a dark and explicit feel that is disturbing to me. This combined with other issues combined to kill my urge to tell stories about Molly and Maria for a while.

I thought that these were a done, but while editing these for posting to this web site I was struck by another set of scenes that I wish had been played. And that means the potential for another story.

So soon, Molly and Maria may ride again.
