Arnold: "I wished for a normal life once. The genie gave me one. And then I woke up back in this stuff. I hope you experience is better than mine."
Diter: "One must define normal. I believe the American saying is 'Normal is a setting on the washing machine'. I find my life mostly drama free. I'll take it."

Shandis: "Some of us thrive on the drama. I settled in the middle of it."

Arnold squints at Diter. "See? That's what I'm talking about."

Diter: "You had a normal life granted by a Genie? What does that look like? Jinn do not consider average what we would. I doubt thee and I have the same idea."

Shandis: "Diter and myself were likewise drooped onto other worlds. Very different ones mind you."

Arnold: "We're you dropped by anyone in particular or just the multiverse being weird."

Diter: "In Shandis' case the multiverse being weird."

Shandis: "I don't know the extent of your knowledge, of Earth, but I was dropped into a siege of Jerusalem in 1187. (sips drink) I have had more holy water showers."

Stanis: confused "What is being left to the aquatic rodent?"

Diter: "I got caught up in an ancient connection between that Earth and Thindacarulle. It seems that the Humans of Thindacarulle came from that Earth, and the connection never ended. It is controlled now. We go shopping there every couple of months.":

To Stanis: "It was a story cycle. Ummmm. Imagine a set of magic mirrors that can show you sight and sound from another location - then imagine someone presents a play to the mirror so you can see and hear it from the comfort of your home. TV is like that but lots of people watch. There was a series of plays about the Cleaver family and how they handle small, amusing dilemmas of everyday life. Beaver was the nickname of the younger son of the family. In my home culture, it became a sort of cliche of 'The good old days' an idyllic time when things were simpler and less stressful. The Genie owed me a favor. He told me afterwards that whatever is going on with me is a curse that was beyond his power to relieve. The title was a reference to a exasperated utterance. Is there a minor problem or ar high jinks afoot? Leave to Beaver to initiate such things."

Stanis: "Television, Diter has mentioned it. I have seen them in the shopping places. Diter says it will rot your brain. I need what little I have. So a bland family life prototypical for a given era and technology, with minor non-threatening dramas. Sounds lovely, for about two months."

Shandis: "One of those television stories? The reality is grim and deadly. A people without good food, good water, elective medicine, or much value to sentient life. You try to live a hand to mouth existence and pray that the next war, plague, or famine does not take you and your family. We try and be at least a point of light in the medicine part of it. If the farmers will accept the magic, we can aid in stopping famine. War is more difficult."

Shandis: "Which is why Leomans as a people avoid Kings. They like getting other people killed for their benefit. I fought one war, that was one war too many."

Diter: "Agreed. I was busy cleaning up the people and situations it spit out. I should be dead."
