No kidding. Those stars are approaching their death and tossing off a lot of stuff
in the process. The data coming from the dilithum is, well, differerent.
Lucas calls Hailey over. "I'm not sure Captian, but this signture is different,
it's laced through the dilithum, nearly masked by the dilithum signature."
Hailey rolls an 18 for engineering, and damn near swallows his pips. What he is
seeing is the signature of disodium, several tons of same laced through the
dilithum.
> Hailey to McCoy: "Are we still within Subspace radio range of the Nakoo?"
They could recieve, but not reply.
> How close are the Zantree?
The Zantree are over 100 light years distant, the Kurr further away still.

Known friendly wise, the Zantree are closest. I would assume they have some
codes in common.
Theroreticly disodium used in a warp engines would jump the warp scale by an
entire power.

Tenacious would arrive and unload her cargo for the medical staff.
As the Cidi are thawed the resident Cidi would note they are not
speaking the same language he is. However the universal translator tell
him it has it's roots in the same Language. They are looking at some
10,000 years of separation. DNA shows that these are indeed Cidi, but

Remember he has a certified genius working for him. I take it he visits
the high energy lab?
The central chamber is dominated by an experimental grade intermix
chamber. From the center of the shaft a constant painful light is
emitted. Hailey has never heard a warp core roar before, they thump,
they pound a rapid beat, but never a constant roar.
Lt. Akkaknin (shouting) "We have had the core running now for 30 days
non stop at 30% power. Output is an entire quantum threshold over
dilithim. We are going to have to do more environmental shielding
around the core. Engineers can't work in this light and noise level.
(Hailey would note that the working engineers are wearing goggles and
ear protection.) The days of the exposed intermix core are over. Sir,
lets head back to the simulation lab."
Once back out of the noise. "We are going to have to rethink our plasma
systems, and the design of warp coils. When I tried to run the output
from the experimental core through a Galaxy class system, it lasted all
of ten minutes before I had plasma conduit rupture.. I beefed those up
and burned out the warp nacelles in half an hour. On a hunch I tried
the Ane systems, they didn't fare any better. Heck with two full sized
cores, I cracked the throttle to ten percent and killed me and the whole
crew, BOOM! I have one team working on retrofits of dilithum systems.
By using smaller cores, and controlled output we can increase the life
span and efficiency of dilithum designed system while boosting speeds to
five digits of nines. My other team is working on totally new designs,
and that is another warp scale altogether. Some hulls can make the
transition. Sovereigns, Mantas, Intrepids, the single hulls. I am
afraid swan like necks are the thing of the past. (He shows Hailey a
design, a Sovereign with tiny nacelles and short stubby pylons.) We
have managed to not blow this up for runs of as long a two days at
fourth power Warp 4. There still issues with coil design and power
containment. I'll be happier when most failures are due to wormholes
and not critical system meltdown."
Canberra-----------
Hailey: "They don't have the same motivation. I'm sure they'll figure it out in time."
Captain Lee: "The question then is how do we change that?"
>I didn't expect there would be any charges filed.
For a law that didn't exist when he "broke" it? I wouldn't think so either.
>Hailey: "No, I'm serious. I have stumbled across the wreck of one Romulan Cruiser, and three older Federation cruisers that were being used by our friends the Zantree. Total loss of all crews. Oh, and there was the large colony vessel, we never found out where that was from. The [USS]* Reliant, stranded, and crew barely survived. Not in an entirely civilized state. The Colony Ship Philadelphia stranded deep in Klingon Territory. There was no guarantee that you'd make it. But you did and that's a win.
Captain Lee: "Yessir. Now about me and the crew? Do we crawl into these new issue duds and get to work, or are we retired? I've been talking with my crew, and well, there is nothing for us to go home to, and except for Chief Johnson, no one that feels like quitting. (Chief Johnson is rumored to have pushed the launch button on Apollo 11)"
>Okay, he gets to go to the sickbay and be treated by modern medicine. Hailey may well be a touch older.
Al the Canberra crew could use working over and working out. Hibernation and less advanced medicine have had their toll.

Thanks to the Ticup archive that can be done. Consider "Pride and Prejudice" from the Slaver mentality.

The Lizard will not do anything for itself but breath. One of the Ane gets the deal before it dies. It has to be telepathically instructed to do everything from eat to poop. Accessing the Archive would indicate that this is a Heelup, an engineered species designed to teach young slavers the proper care of slaves.

It is a data device, it is also made from Crystal trees. The only interface for it is at Memory Alpha, the Ticup archive computer.

Behold the noise with a beat (It sounds like a cross between a foghorn convention, and a gang of howler monkeys. The Bakstekboz get one more concert. An echo of voices from a distant past. YOu can almost see the Slaver females hooting in excitement and telepathically shouting commands for the band to mate with them while the band hoots and jumps around the stage.

Cidi ------------

Freedom (As Tenacious picks up her skirts and flies.) "Shit!"
Captain: (Grimly) "Lock in coordinates and give me maximum cruising
speed."
Helm: "At once My. Lord Captain."
Freedom: "putt, puttputtputt..." Warp six away.
Tenacious would arrive and unload her cargo for the medical staff.
As the Cidi are thawed the resident Cidi would note they are not
speaking the same language he is. However the universal translator tell
him it has it's roots in the same Language. They are looking at some
10,000 years of separation. DNA shows that these are indeed Cidi, but
with 10,000 year of genetic drift.
Dilithum -----------

Oz is banging those together as well. An entire modern merchant fleet.
Disodium ----------

Stasis Box ------------------
>Book:
>Beam this to cultural sciences. They get to try and decode it.
Thanks to the Ticup archive that can be done. Consider "Pride and Prejudice" from the Slaver mentality.
>Lizard:
>Beam it to life sciences.
The Lizard will not do anything for itself but breath. One of the Ane gets the deal before it dies. It has to be telepathically instructed to do everything from eat to poop. Accessing the Archive would indicate that this is a Heelup, an engineered species designed to teach young slavers the proper care of slaves.
>Cube:
>beam it to materials sciences
It is a data device, it is also made from Crystal trees. The only interface for it is at Memory Alpha, the Ticup archive computer.
>Cube:
>beam it to materials sciences
Behold the noise with a beat (It sounds like a cross between a foghorn convention, and a gang of howler monkeys. The Bakstekboz get one more concert. An echo of voices from a distant past. YOu can almost see the Slaver females hooting in excitement and telepathically shouting commands for the band to mate with them while the band hoots and jumps around the stage.
*In G-trek the Romulan was was after the Federation founding.
