Profile Planet Bob

Profile Bob

Planet Bob:
A world full of bookish Nebbishes.

Group Name: Bobs.

They call their planet "The World" - since they're stranded, information about just what this planet is or it's relation to anything else is iirrelevant. If routinely contacted they'l tend to adopt the coolquial name, "Planet Bob"

Created by:
Dennis Washburn, as told to Jay P Hailey

Appearance:
These guys first appeared in the 2000 Sci Fi game Jay tried to run.

Number of Members: A few hundred Million.

Nature of Members: Bobs.
At some point in the distant past, a human colony ship from the Planet Earth crashed with horrifying loss of life. The Survivors knew they lacked the genetic diversity to survive and took to cloning.

One of the Colonists was Bob. Bob was an ordinary looking man with brown hair. he was completely generic looking. No one knows exactly why, but the only clone to survive since the crash are male and female clones of Bob.

These are human beings. They have a small genetic quirk which allows for infinite in-breeding. Over thousands of years they will start mutating away from the Bob archtype. But for right now, they're all Bob.

Bob is good at math and has a conservative personality. But Bob also enjoys stories of adventure, swashbuckling and derring do.

Organization:
The Bobs have a bureacratic meritocracy.

There is a Bob police force. Occasionally Bobs go off the rails and must be held to account.

The Bobs have media from the long forgotten earth. Movies and TV shows have survived and influenced how Bobs run their world.

Game Role: A source for Bob.

World Role: An odd human world, way out pon the frontier.

Relative Influence:
Small. Bob's world has not been contacted, yet.

Public or Secret?:
Secret, by reason of obscurity.

Publicly Stated Goal:
To have the best possible Bob life

Relative Wealth:
Compared to other human worlds, small. Bob doesn't have FTL drives.

Group advantages:
They are great at math, organization and engineering type tasks

Special Abilities:
Bob is a talent at Math and at logical thinking.

Group disadvantages:
A very limited frame of mind.

Special disadvantages:
They have two dark secrets

Dark Secret 1 - there was a very large cache of video saved by the original colonists. Bob has suppressed several movies and TeeVee shows that encourge bad ideas among the Bobs.

Dark secret 2 - Bob *Has* been contacted. But the very conservative rigid hierarchy of Bobs has suppressed that, too.

There are Bobs in Black who enforce this quarantine

Those who favor them: Bobs who want a quiet life perfectly arranged for Bobs.

Those opposed to them: Bobs who aspire to something more.

Area of Operation: The Planet Bob

Headquarters Location:
Landing Site City, the Capital where the Colony ship landed.

Public Face: bland math wizards

Notable Members:
Bob "Rock Hunter" - in an act of extreme daring do, Bob escaped from the planet Bob. Rock was a fan of the forbidden old movies. He was amazed and pleased to find a galaxy at large where a two-fisted man of action could make his way.

Rock is neither two fisted, nor a man of action, but don't tell HIM that.

Bob found a galaxy where humans like himself are ubitquitous and he can pass without comment ("Just like at home," muses Bob, sadly) and where computer programming and security are mysteriously slap-dash and poorly executed.

Bob joined the Ships crew of the Triad and has been adventuring ever since.

The Agents Bob: Bob1 and Bob2 are Bobs in Black, enforcing the paranoid quarantine of Planet Bob. They are not shy about telling people that they re law enforcement officials, but it would take a lot of effort to pry the location ogf planet Bob out of them.

They remain one step behind Bob and his party, Doggedly pursuing "Rock Hunter" to capture him and throw him under the secret Jail on Planet Bob.

Fate of the Oganization:
Eventually the Bobs will be found. over the course of galactic time, 10,000 years at most, the Bobs will have been reabsorbed back into the General human population - their moment of static Bobness over run by human genetic diversity.

Dennis Character "Bob" took on the name "Rock Hunter" from the ancient movies he liked.

"Rock Hunter" thought of himself as a man of action, a two fisted action hero.

Bob was categorically not that. Like all Bobs he was talented at numbers and spread sheets.

In one game he walked into an Enemy corporation, socially engineered his way into their offices, hacked their computers, downloaded incriminating evidence and then walked right back out because he looked like h belonged there.

In a later game, during a boarding action, the other PCs gave Bob a gun loaded with blanks so he could feel like he was contributing without accidentally shooting any of them.

But that game like all them eventually died.

Oh, that game was the first appearance of the Punk band with "Drum-Bot" in it.
