Changes to Unbuntu?

Post by jayphailey » Fri May 16, 2025 9:45 pm

Okay - if I am reading this correctly

There is an old flavor of Unbuntu base in "GNU"

and there is a new version based in "Rust"

Unbuntu is announcing they are replacing GNU based utilities within Unbuntu with Rust flavored ones.

Is it possible that these changes are what caused your recent upgrade headaches?

Linus Torvalds has a talk about it

Interesting, but no. I do not use Unbuntu. I use the Open SUSE distro. Very different animal.

Unbuntu is based around Debian and apt get. SUSE is based on Red Hat and the RMP install. Same kernel, very different management.
