The problems he mentions plague the Detroit Q-line. It shares the street with traffic. People parking on the line are a constant issue. But they put the Q-line on the curb lane, not in the middle.

Frankly if you put road wheels on the Q-line it's called an electric bus, and does not require dedicated infrastructure in terms of tracks. Revive the local bus service and make it run through the tri-county area and we would have effective public transit for the cost of the buses, no rail required. And I have seen the articulated buses the size of the Q-line "streetcars". A bus can go around an illegally parked car.

You still have last mile issues.
