Zed: "Are you telling me this place exists on multiple planets at the same time? I was near the Starport on Ord Mantel."

Kirt: "Multiple universes at the same time. I was flying over the Nameless Forest. When you leave you go back from whence you came."

Zed: "More worlds. More places too numerous to count. More strange people. Why not? Maybe I could become an Explorer? Everything just sounds wrong. Off. Missing something."

Kirt: "I sense you are a man seeking. Troubled by your present, and not seeing a road away from it. Sadly gold and advice are all I have for you. We each must return to the world we left."

Zed: "Odd. What advice might you offer me, Sir? How might I be of service to you?"

[Innkeeper]

Kirt: "What is your circumstance? Can't really advise if I don't know where you stand."

He would stand and stretch, extending his wings to the full 36".

Kirt: "Ah, that's better. Bartender, another please and one for my friend here."

Zed: "I was raised in a war. My parents died under mysterious circumstances. Evidence of whether it was war related has been lost. I was adopted and raised by a Jedi named Aleph Null. He taught me to use the force and how to fly fighters. When I was very young the Empire had just risen. It was a time of chaos and oppression. We fought pirates, criminal and tyrants for money.

The Sith hunted the Jedi. In time they ambushed us. Aleph Null sacrificed himself so I could escape.

Having few options, I joined the Rebellion. I flew fighters for them and did undercover mission. After a long, hard fought struggle, we won. The Rebellion became the New Republic. I continued to fly fighters for the New Republic.

A Jedi rose up." Zed rolls the name with some distaste "Luke Skywalker. He set up a new Jedi Academy. I had been raised since I was young in the ways of the force. I felt that I could leave the fighting behind. I could become a Jedi and commune with the force. I could gain wisdom. I resigned my commission with the New Republic and I went to the New Jedi Academy."

"Master Skywalker rejected me. He said I was too old. The Jedi didn't train random applicants off the street, they chose young people with high Force potential."

So there I am. I'm a burned-out fighter pilot. I'm a failed Jedi. I have an outdated starfighter and a mouthy droid. And no idea where I go from here. I was used up in war that's over."

[Innkeeper]

Kirt: "So what is your force potential? Just because this Skywalker dude is a prick, does not mean you have failed."

"I started as nothing. I made my own way and made the world eat it. I defined me myself. Not by what others called me. Never define your success or failure by someone else's expectations."

"Can you stop fighting? Some old warriors never can. I'm one. I could take the peace I have made and let others fight the battles. I can't."

Kirt: "So what is your force potential? Just because this Skywalker dude is a prick, does not mean you have failed."

Zed: "I'm not sure the force and one's connection to it can be quantified that way. One should always be working on expanding and deepening one's connection... I... I ... I guess I just had a picture in my mind of how I wanted things to be and when reality deviated, I... became emotional. In some ways I view The Force as an old combat friend. I should have taken time to meditate and ask The Force itself which way I should go."

Kirt: "It sounds like magic. Different people call the same thing by different names. Is their a god behind this 'Force'."

Zed takes a deep breath. "I have been given gifts. We use those gifts to defend those who cannot defend themselves. The Force will take me where I need to be, when I need to be there. I just need to trust it. Maybe I'll find someone in need of fighting. Maybe I'll find something else."

Kirt: "Wait, you said Jedi. The guys with the light sabers. I've heard of them, a few friends have one. The Force, Chi, The magics of life and death. If you are on the life path it's a hard row to hoe. That and Earth magic are the non-entity sources that give direction. Arcane does not. Clerical, well the power of god."

Zed: "The Force is the energy that flows through us and binds us all. Once one is in tune with it, it can open up new horizons. It can be hard to describe. Often, it's something you feel."
