Game Role: Some more culture
World Role: We are the arts part of that Arts & Sciences thing baby.
Relative Influence: Minor. And less so considering where they are headed.
Public or Secret?: Public baby, if you are secret, no one comes to the gigs.
Publicly Stated Goal: Make sweet music
Relative Wealth: Minor on the larger scale. None of them need to work for a living, and can pretty much satisfy any material need or want.
Group advantages: Age, these musicians have forgotten more music than most pop divas know. Better, they know each other's habits well enough to improv as a group, not just as background and soloists. They are smooth, cool, and hot.
Group disadvantages: Age. Even with Federation medical skill you start to slow down after 70.
Those who favor them: Jazz fans
Those opposed to them: Music haters
Area of Operation: Oz node
Headquarters Location: Emerald City, Oz
Public Face: A jazz band headed for the Stars
Members: Jimmy "Sweet Pea" Jones – Coronet Sweet Pea is the founder of the Band, and titular leader. He has been a Jazzman most of his 75 years and shows no signs of stopping.
Alex "Lo Daddy" Jalevich – Bass The fastest fingers on four strings. Lo Daddy can get it done. Somewhere over 50ish.
Jay "Skippy" Johnson – Keyboards. A broad man in every respect "Skippy's" whiskey bass was made for The Blues. He doesn't limit himself however and will play what comes his way. Over 60 something, he never gets nailed down on it.
Clyde "Big Band" Miller – Trombone. This man can suck the happy right out of a room and amplify it back. No one can recall seeing him ever frown, even if you blow the cord structure. Another 60 something.
Lee "Chinaman" Ho – Saxophone. Ho plays the Sax, or anything else with keys and reeds. It is hard to believe that than much soul comes from so small a frame. 70 something, at the least.
Sally "Big Sal" Wilson – Vocals. Sal is a classic Jazz singer, she can growl from the low alto to mid soprano range. A usable three octaves. She can sing sweet or rough. She is somewhere in the 40s, but you don't ask a woman that.
Freddy "Echo" Hayes – Engineer. Thirty something that knows sound, and how to make a bad venue sweet.
"Monk" Stillman – Roady. A kid willing to pull hard work to jam with the Masters. Plays horn.
Bob "Parkman" Parker – Roady Bob Just likes hanging out with musicians. He couldn't carry a tune in a sack.
Olle "Swed" Sanderson – Roady. Swed is another musician in training. A passable classical pianist he is doing road work in exchange for learning the jazz style.
History of the Organization: Topaz is a group of older musicians that Jimmy "Sweet Pea" Jones put together to tour with the new as yet to be named Ane group out of the Oz node. As a band they don't have a lot of time together, as a group they pack over 300 years of musical experience into one place.
