Sunark the "Mad"

Created By: Garry Stahl

Full name: Sunark
Birthplace: Jalevi, Vulcan
Birthdate: 2186
Sex: male
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 240
Build: medium
Marital status: single
Description: Blocky Vulcan build.  He grows his hair long and wears it loose to the waist. He favors traditional Japanese male fashion. He wears a serene smile described as "like a Buddha".
Skin coloring: Medium golden
Eyes: Black
Hair: Black
Routine Activities: Practicing Bushido, obsessive consumption of Earth culture, writing Kabuki plays.
Skills/Training/Professional Skills: Sunark defected from Vulcan culture before he could return to Vulcan for the finish of his formal education.
Financial Status: Well off. He lives at the good contributer level of income.
Personality: Sunark is openly emotional, but in a subdued Japanese manner.
Ambitions and Goals: To experience all that Earth, and Japanese culture can provide, to write Kabuki that moves those that watch it.
Physical/mental Problems: Sunark's Vulcan discipline has been broken. He no longer actively follows or maintains Tu-Surak. However early training does flavor his decisions and behavior. He handles his Vulcan needs, aka Pon Far with hired women. Also frowned on by his family. A Human would consider him well adjusted. Vulcans consider him mad. He writes Kabuki about sane madness, and smiles.
Enemies (And Why): His family, more traditional Vulcans. Sunark's family will not force him to return to Vulcan, but they highly disapprove of his chosen lifestyle. There are those on Vulcan that might try and force the issue if the Vulcan goverment ever lifts the hands off policy.
Special Abilities: None outside of generic Vulcan abilities, most of which have declined since he dropped discipline.
Weaknesses/Disadvantages: Sunark is still naive about Earth. Even in the 22nd century they are people that are "less than enchanted" by the direction society has taken. Crime has not been wiped out. Dissent is not only allowed, but fostered. Some are more direct than others. Sunark is considered a diplomatic "pet" by some factions that might do him harm. Those that favor Sunark see that he is not troubled by these people.
History and Experiences Which have Affected Character Greatly: Sunark was the son of some of the first diplomats to come to Earth from Vulcan. He quickly became fascinated by Earth culture, particularly the Japanese. He studied Bushido and other Japanese arts to better understand the culture. At last he settled on Kabuki as the "perfect art".
Sunark abandoned his Vulcan culture to live as a Japanese. He wrote Kabuki plays that combined Vulcan cultural viewpoints with those of Earth in general, not simply Japan. Sunark's Kabuki has a strange ability to draw in even those unfamiliar with the art. His plays express deep primal emotion even within the formal framework of the Kabuki theater.
His family is currently not speaking to him, but should he agree to return to Vulcan ways he is welcome home.
Sunark lets the fame wash over him. He seldom makes public appearances outside of the first performance of his plays. He spends most of his time in his private compound studying and writing plays.
