Episode 54a Nightmares

With a squeak of terror, Sunshine found herself coming out of the nightmare in motion. She was standing in her quarters on the Starship with her Sword out, in a defensive kata that seemed ingrained into her nervous system.

As she came to herself, Sunshine considered the irony of the scene. A slim blond Elauhir woman waving a chunk of sharpened steel at a nightmare aboard one of the most advanced starships of the day.

As she turned to replace the sword in it's scabbard, she bit her lip and then grinned at herself. Lying untouched was the phaser on her night stand, set there just in case of an attack.

Sunshine considered it carefully. The subject of the nightmare was an old one. Gray slimy skin, gray spindly hands. The worst were the eyes. Sunshine shuddered at the memory. Tentacles writhing and reaching from beneath those horrid, predatory eyes.

It was the eyes and the tentacles. Hup-Nast-Zam-Zam was demonstrably NOT one of "them" But he had similar eyes and all those tentacles.

Sunshine looked at the sheathed sword in her hand. The feeling of hostile psychic energy still seemed fresh in her mind. She'd never forgive her old enemies for the psionic rape and pillaging of her mind.

But....

But....

It was time to let the past be the past. Sunshine found herself struggling to do something that came as naturally to her as breathing.

Sunshine didn't know how long she stood there in the dimmed night lighting of her quarters struggling with her own mind.

At last she looked over at the computer. "Computer. Send a message to the Counsellor."
