Profiles

Writing takes a certain "head". A certain frame of mind. It is am emotional place. Sometimes, when distracted, disturbed or tired I cannot reach that place. In the introduction to the various pieces of fiction on this website, you'll encounter the fact that many of them started out as role playing games.

As an long time game master, I have discovered that when I have a more clear idea of my game world, the people and things in it, and the order of events - then my game can go longer. They are more entertaining to the players. More satisfying. When I do my home work, I know who the NPCs are,why they are there and what they want.

This means that I take notes. I write stuff down. Sometimes it's stuff that sees play, sometimes it's stuff that doesn't. But it's all bricks in the foundation of an imaginary world. it all lends veracity and depth to the game world.

So when I get bored, I can't find the writing head... I make notes and background profiles.

I often post these things on trekcreative for my friends there to rea. I post them to my Star Trek Role Playing discussion List.

I can imagine no greater compliment than for someone to look at my pieces of world building and say "Tht exactly fits what I was looking for." or "That really sparked my imagination.'

Sometimes I wonder if I don't write these profiles to escape the hard work of actually writing.

Anyway - there's a lot of stuff there.

So I am posting my profiles here. There will be stuff you'll see in my stories. There'll be stuff you don't see in my stories. There will be stuff you might see in my stories.

There will be people, places and things largely related to the game world of Star Trek Outwardly Mobile. Groups, concepts and so on. As soon as I name a category, I'll find a profile that defies it.

All of this stuff is available for use in role playing games. Have fun. I'll post status for use in Fan fic. Some characters I am right in the middle of playing with.

But I would consider it a great compliment and a great honor if some of my noodles added significantly to your image of the Star Trek Universe and your enjoyment of it.

My only condition for such uses, guest shots and references... you have to tell me.

Have fun!
