I concentrated, arranged myself into the proper shape, and elevated my aspect into the All

Except I tripped going in

In the middle of a metaphorical lobby there was Galaglan. She was getting absolutely railed by Chiaraban.

My big problem was that this was mental space. I describe it using spatial terms. Rooms, lobbies, and spaces for my own convenience. It’s not really like that.

I could feel them. Both of them. They were fucking mentally as well as physically.

And I could feel both sides of it.

**Hi, Jay!** Galaglan called.

**Hello, Jay.** Chiaraban said **You’re invited. Come on down.**

Feeling their bodies and their gentials… So much genital action there, almost overwhelmed me. My body was responding on a very primitive level.

I turned around **No thanks. You kids have fun.**

**Are you sure?** Galaglan asked

I gathered what mind I had left and grimly separated myself, bit by bit from their fun. It’s not that I’d have any objection to having fun with Galaglan. Or Chiaraban, if it occurred. But not by surprise. Not without some working up to it.

I’d discovered the hard way, as a younger man, that my emotions were connected to my genitals, and so I needed to be a little conservative about how I engaged.

I breathed, focused, and went through a grounding exercise Tippalan taught me.

Bit by bit, Galaglan’s presence in my mind died down and receded until it was at a comfortable level for me. Like knowing someone a couple of decks away was having sex. Something I could tune out.

I opened my eyes. Tippalan and I were in a conference room. She didn’t have a cousellor’s office. I was doing exercises coming and going from The All. I was making good progress, but there was still so much to learn.

I sighed **I’m sorry. Didn’t make it into The All today. I’ll have to try the exercise tomorrow.**

Tippalan stared at me with big blue eyes **Not unless you want to.**

**Huh?**

**You know humans have buttons. Put in the stimulus and you get predictable results. Ethical folks learn these and avoid using them to manipulate humans.**

**Oh?**

**A human, properly stimulated, tends to say ‘fuck it’ and dive into certain situations. Arousal overrides a lot of your common sense and judgement. It’s a known issue for humans.**

**I understand that.**

**But you didn’t.**

I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. I was still coming down physically **I didn’t want to.**

**You passed.**

**Passed what?**

**Your exam. Jay, you’ve succeeded. You’ve achieved basic competence in your telepathic skills.**

I looked at Tippalan and thought about it. **I still have a lot to learn.**

**Agreed. We can continue training if you like. But as of now you’re fit for duty.**

“Thank you,” I said

**You can buy me some radishes later.**

Li’ira and I were pouring over charts. “I think due coreward, to the Rishan zone, then we can skim the rimward edge of the Rishan zone to try and kill any Rishan Artifacts we find there, until we’re level with Oron, then we can go Rimwards to Oron and from there back to New Canada.”

Li’ira traced out a course. “Like that?”

I nodded “That’ll work. We’ll do a reset at New Canada. If they still want me pushing a ship, we’ll come back out here and support Enrod until they have enough ships of their own.”

“How soon do you want to leave?”

“I’ll check with Enrod. I think they’re in between classes at their academy. Let’s aim for one week, and we can push it if necessary.”

“Lotara asked to come with us, as well as several cadets from the Academy.”

“I don’t see why not,” I replied.

She nodded firmly. I could see her wheels spinning, making up plans.

I reached for her.

“There’s something else I’d like to discuss with you first.”

“Oh?” She saw my face “Oh. Okay. I think I can fit you into my schedule,” She grinned.

There's an implied promise here that the OMoikane will be visiting the Rishan Zone.

I was writing on it, but it wasn't working as well as I liked...
