JB2 - Sudeqed

(Soo-duh-ked)

Created by:
Jay
Location: Lefyt Sector, Jumoji Beta #2

Number of Members:

About 500 million people. Down from a lot more.

Nature of Members:

Lefyt people who ran for the hills and grew up fighting a guerilla war against Damyip 14-6.

Organization:

2410
City States and Tribes, although the Tribes and City States are named using military-style names adopted at the beginning of the conquest.

A given tribe might be named "The Second Garvan Militia" or "The Dobloki Hills Irregulars"

While a given city-state might be named "Fort Rusty" or "Supply Base 17 Gamma"

2411
Following contact with the Federation, Sudeqed was quick to make a "Sudeqed Provisional Government" And Enlist Damyip 14-6 and the Federation to support it.

Although it's clear that the sensible people want the Provisional Government and are ready to fight for it, it's also clear that in many places Warlords and Crime Lords see their cushy ride coming to an end and are preparing to fight to keep their own little slice of hell going for a little longer.

Game Role:

Yet another Lefyt World for PCs to interact with

World Role:

Yet another Lefyt world that needs help.

Relative Influence:

About average. They're not quite the Basket Case Uodrust is, they're a long way away from Pytol, Eosever or Uhxoz.

Publicly Stated Goal:

To restore Sudeqed to civilization and functionality and to join the Federation.

Relative Wealth:

Poor. Their infrastructure took a lot of damage and needs to be rebuilt. Training people to rebuild is the slowest part, but everyone is working on it.

Group advantages:

The people of Sudeqed are not screwing around. They are ready for the war to be OVER. They dropped the war like a hot rock when offered the chance and are now digging aggressively into "The Recovery".

Special Abilities:

The Sudeqed people are really good at making a little go a long way.

Group disadvantages:

There is still occasional conflict between factions - Police work on Sudeqed is an exciting and action-packed field currently.

The dark side of this is when civilization collapsed in the few years following the conquest, The dark side of Lefyt Nature also bloomed into full view. A lot of "Militia" and "Irregular" and "Reserve Unit" were nothing more than organized crime groups with paramilitary structure.

Special disadvantages:

The Evil Sudeqed people who find rape, robbery and looting to their liking are digging in to fight for their territory on Sudeqed. These places are pretty dark and ugly. Slavery, sex-trafficking, drugs, and violence are rampant in these places. It'll be a fight to drag some of these places out of their own problems.

Headquarters Location:

Sobakia city. Formerly the capital of Sudeqed, it was a vibrant, beautiful city. It was bombed in the fisrt wave and then became a battleground of guerillas and occupation-bots, picked to pieces by scavengers.

It has been reclaimed by the Sudeqed Provisional Government. A New headquarters is being constructed at the location of an old Industrial park. The Sudeqed have this image of a restored city and they're digging into this as hard as they can.

Public Face:

"We survived! Now we're going to rebuild! No, we aren't asking and we don't CARE who doesn't LIKE IT!"

Notable Members:

General Sholana. Widely regarded as the highest ranking pre-war Warrior on Sudeqed. She was a Lieutenant in a records department when the fall came. What with one thing and another, her group managed to survive and reorganize. Her fortunes and the territory she controls have waxed and waned, but she never quit. She was acclaimed the defacto Minister of Defense of the Sudeqed Provisional Government. She's a hero to many and a hated criminal to many others.

Her current whereabouts are unknown. (Meta, she's at Pytol station being treated for an aggressive form of cancer. It'll be a die roll how she comes through it.

Her surviving son, Nalabar, and daughter, Eekwion are both high-level officers having had careers as combat soldiers and staff officers.

President Coralo: Elected president after Sholana turned down the job, Coralo was a merchant and wheeler-dealer. He's pedaling like mad trying to keep his coalition together, while keeping the skeletons in his closet from dancing out.

Generalissimo Krongal. The leader of the biggest non-governmental faction. He is extremely scary. He is competent, intelligent, energic and a complete psychopath. He rules with an iron fist. Cross him and he'll torture you for weeks before you die. He has a crop of teenaged girls he tortures and murders for fun.

He has a positive genius for identifying and exploiting the weaknesses in others, either underlings, opponents or organizations. He's destroyed several militia and coalitions that tried to stand against him.

Krongal is in late middle age, but works to stay in tip-top condition. Once a week he fights the biggest, meanest POW he can get, and kills that person with his bare hands to stay sharp.

Krongal demands loyalty and ass-kissing. But he is smart enough to let his underling do their work and skim enough to keep them happy and loyal. He has crack special troopers who just delight in spreading death and misery. Krongal and his team have even Lured Damyip 14-6 into ambushes and destroyed every bot involved.

Krongal has set himself to break up the Provisional government coalition and cause a new hot civil war. He has spies, assassins and murder-hoboes working on this even now.

Krongal does not know that his chief rival has been general Sholana, working behind the scenes, with her own collection of spies, scouts and agents, as well as by letting others take the credit for her ideas. Sholana has been a major roadblock for Krongal on his road to power.

History of the Organization:

40 years ago, the Damyip broke the back of the Lefyt Military and rolled them up.

Damyip 3 rolled into the System and approached Sudeqed. Like other worlds, they hoped to make enough of a fight out of it to force negotiations.

Damyip 3 bombed them flatish.

But Sudqed were slightly more prepared. They set up makeshift Military units and withdrew into the wildernesses in good order.

Damyip 3 was recalled and updated. Damyip 14-6 was given the task of occupying Sedqued.

Damyip 14-6 conducted landings in force in some areas. Smart militia's retreated in good order. Dumb ones made a battle of it.

Once Damyip 14-6 was able to secure an area it set about trying to establish and stable situation where it's Sedeqed people could survive

Some people spied, some people sabotaged. Some people conducted guerilla hit and run raids.

During this time, the sudeqed made a discovery. Damyip Occupation bots would talk to you. They would engage sensibly. Even the vile combat bots would say "Excuse me while I summon a different unit" and call up an occupation bot to talk.

In the end, Sudeqed was carved up into a berserk chess board. The Damyip controls some squares. Different Militias controlled others.

Damyip 14-6 was naive and clueless early on and really didn't understand much about the Lefyt. Some Sudeqed people scammed Damyip 14-6 terribly. Others used Damyip 14-6 as a weapon against their enemies. In time Damyip 14-6 began to get a little more world-wise.

As the chessboard set up was set, many of the Militias and Irregular forces went bad They changed from resistance fighters to bandits and criminals. Kidnapping, looting, coercion and all sorts of crime became prevalent.

Fights between rival groups of Sedeqed began. They used their newfound skills as guerilla and resistance fighter against each other. Some fought for gain, others fought to try and protect themselves from predators.

Large groups of otherwise normal people were forced to flee and become refugees, many of which became fodder for criminal gangs.

Damyip 14-6 set up its own zones of control, but in trying to understand how to achieve proper controls sometimes areas under its control were dystopian police states.... dystopian police states with added terror attacks for fun.

There were ever-shifting networks of alliances, rivalries, and relationships. Damyip 14-6 was sometimes dumb and sometimes scary smart. A really good faction leader often had to learn to manipulate the Damyip or find someone who could.

It began to seem as if Sudequed was permanently Balkanized. Damyip 14-6 could not crush its enemies without causing more damage that it wanted to. Various Militias and organized crime factions could not push Damyip 14-6 off Sudeqed. Various factions felt like that they could destroy the others.

So fighting and balkanization continued. In some places, cities continued to operate in a reduced fashion, in other places new communities grew. But this was always precarious and subject to attack.

Then Damyip 14-6 announced the War was over. The Federation was on its way to help. A majority of people on Sudeqed jumped on this idea. Faction leaders in contact with Damyip 14-6 pressed for clarification of its role. Based on Eosever, Damyip 14-6 shared that it might participate in a civil government.

A coalition of faction leaders met with Damyip 14-6 and announced the Provisional Sudeqed government. All the founding factions and Damyip 14-6 pledged support for this new provisional government. About two-thirds of the surviving population thought this was a very good idea and didn't even care that Damyip 14-6 was involved.

Some areas remain outide the Provisional government. Some due to Anti-Damyip sentiment. Others due to being havens for crime.

2411:
Work is continuing. There are two things that need to be done. The provisional government needs to become fully functional The Federation is assisting with this.

Areas not under Provisional Government control need to be brought under control. The Sudeqed are ambivalent about this. Even with Damyip 14-6's help, it would be tough fighting to just kick in the door and arrest everyone. Most of the Factions now making up the Provisional government are not eager to start that fight.

There is a large program of attraction going on. Damyip 14-6 and others are helping refugees flee the bad areas and get into provisional government-controlled areas. This is provoking more armed response by criminal factions. So there's a slow-motion fight already in progress. No one wants it to get bigger.

Big logos, patches, and flags for the Provisional government are popular. They are a variant of the pre-war flag. Most people on Sudeqed are ready for war to be OVER.

Occurence Lefyt plot

Number of Members:

Approximately 350 million.

Nature of Members:

Lefyt and Damyip 14-5. There are other visitors.

Organization:

Early on, Damyip 14-5 ruled Sivepar City with a literal Iron fist, as well a small band of farmland around it. As Damyip 14-5 learned how to do this better, the city began to grow and economic activity increased.

Damyip 14-5 allowed an allied "Semi-Autonomous zone" ouside its area of direct rule. Beyond that it was wild lands. As Damyip 14-5 got better and it's zone of control got more together, Damyip 14-5 expanded its zone of control, incorporating previously bordering zones.

by 2410 Damyip 14-5 ruled a decent sized country worth of land, with multiple cities and decent infrastructure. Around it was a ring of semi-Autonomous nations, and then a wild area where the wildness was reducing. But there was always some tension. Damyip 14-5 was reasonable, but its job was to rule Tysyev, and it would not be denied. There were small resistance groups actively resisting and there was always a question of how much autonomy was too much and would trigger an expansion of Dayip jurisdiction?

In 2411 The Damyip declared an end to the war, alliance with the Federation and an attempt to normalize relations. Damyip 14-5 and the semi-Autonomous nations formed a provisional government,

Currently The Tysyev Provisional Government is in charge. It's a weird amalgamation of Lefyt and Damyip. While Damyip 14-5 handles much of the administration and law enforcement, it actually debates policy with colleagues in the Tysyev Council and abides by decisions so made.

Game Role:

Another Lefyt world

World Role:

Another Lefyt world

Relative Influence:

Moderate. They are rebuilding, with help from Eosever and Pytol. They retained much prewar culture, but were forced to meld it with Damyip 14-5's administration. They are staunchly pro-Federation

Relative Wealth:

Low due to small population

Group advantages:

They're tough and can survive in the wilderness or in their cities

Special Abilities:

The Tysyev have advanced skills in biochemistry.

Group disadvantages:

Low population and occasional crazies in the woods.

Special disadvantages:

They are considered traitors by some Lefyt worlds.

Relations:
The Federation - the people of Tysyev are all in for the Federation. To the degree they're thinking about banning Orion visits.

The Bendarri - Positively regarded

The Klingons - viewed as helpful

The Orions - the Orions tried to play the race card and got shot down Early. The feeling among the current goverment is that the Orions are underhanded scamsters who are up to no good.

Area of Operation:

The Lefyt Sector

Headquarters Location:

Sivepar City

Notable Members:

Damyip 14-5

Colrain Zebpar - President of south Molostan. A country that moved and reestablished itself several times. Grateful that this will no longer be an issue. Credits the Federation for stabilizing the situation and allowing the Tysyev and the Damyip to get along without tension. Now a member of the Tyzyev council.

Sgt Baskar. The last of the old Resistance leaders. He has only recently come in out of the cold and joined the provisional government. He disagrees with Damyip 14-5 almost out of reflex and makes Damyip 14-5 prove every assertion he can. He is Pro Orion and anti-Federation, mainly because he doesn't trust the Federation and the Damyip. Damyip 14-5 insists on including him at every opportunity. Because fundamentally, Baskar is honest. If the debate goes against him, or the vote goes against him, he sucks it up and gets with the program. Baskar's people are working with the Provisional Government to re establish order.

Baskar and several other Counilors came up with the idea of painting the occupation bots of Damyip 14-5 white and giving them large signage saying "Police" and "Provisional Government". They've also asked these units to go slow in admitting they're Damyip. Baskar and company feel they can sell the Occupation bots as the Lefyt "Borrowing" Damyip technology and turning it to their own ends Damyip 14-5 gets this and plays along.

History of the Organization:

2371: The conquest, detailed elsewhere. The Tysyev decided to surrender and hope for the best, but there was an ugly surprise waiting for them.

On Tysyev there was a cult of a belief called Jurdasi. Jurdasi asserts that the Creator is actually a false creator, and his works are distortions of true creation. Normal people are true souls trapped in a fake reality, which they can surpass with esoteric knowledge, or by dying and seeing the truth.

The cult was working for quite a while on their apocalypse

When the Damyip rolled in, the Jurdasi struck.

As the Damyip Landed and took posession of the shell of a government, the first reports of disease began to come in. Soon local health care was over whelmed. Damyip 14-5, inexperienced and desperate, issued a call. All former members of government, all was forgiven, return to duty to help with this outbreak.

The surviving Jurdasi claimed responsibility for the plague with poor results for them.

Two weeks after the plague started it was everywhere and the numbers of infected kept climbing.

It was called the Orange Plague. Victims turned orange in their final hours before dying of organ failure.

But the victims were infected and contagious for days before showing symptoms.

The disease spread by skin to skin contact or by bare skin touching contaminated objects for about 24-48 hours after an infected person touched it.

Someone who turned orange was spreading the disease into the air around them. They were extremely dangerous to be around an the environment was dangerous for days after they died.

The disease was understood about 3 weeks in, news was spreading about 4 weeks in, but by then it was already too late.

Panicked people were fleeing the cities, infrastructure and the daily operations needed to keep civilization going were collapsing.

Damyip 14-5 decided to try and hold one city, Sivepar. It was a nice city in a valley about 60 miles inland from the oceaan. The river had been altered for ocean going ships. It was surrounded by good farmland.

Damyip 14-5 set up a perimeter and then invited people in , if they agreed to abide by it's health regulations.

Damyip 14-5 flooded Sivepar with early Occupation-Bots and kept order in its area by brute force.

Out, away from Sivepar City, the great dying began. lacking food, water, medicine and shelter, people began to starve. Desperate the turned on each other and began fighting for what was left.

Such fighting was often interrupted by new waves of the plague. Members of the Jurdasi were hunted and killed without mercy. Any Jurdasi writings or symbols were destroyed. There are no known Jurdasi currently.

The population of Tysyev crashed.

About 6 months in, the Doctors working for Damyip 14-5 discovered a treatment. With this, the terminal stage of the disease was reduced and could be survived.

Gangs of survivors attaacked Sivepar city, resenting it's maintenance of civilzation, or the presence of toasters.

While trying to stabilize the city, Damyip 14-5 attacked and destroyed old military bases, caches of military equipment, space ships and infrastructure for supporting space ships.

Several occupation government outposts and aid stations were attacked and several massacred.

Over time, this died down. Near Damyip 14-5's zone of control a population of Lefyt gathered. They didn't surrender, but they weren't fighting. They pursued trade, farming scavenging and crafts, aided by Lefyt inside the Damyip zone of control.

Damyiip 14-5 would send large batches of occupation bots to flood an area and increase control, and then withdraw them, having disrupted criminal and resistance behavior.

This lead to a weird sort of set up where the Damyip were a big faction, but one of many factions vying for control.

Some Tyzyev continued resistance, with varying degrees of planning, strategy, tactics and care. Many bands of resistance fighters became bandits or turned to organized crime.

Although a treatment for the Orange Plague was available, in civilized areas, in the wild it continued to exact a toll. Damyip 14-5 and a crew of reserchers continued implacable work to find a cure.

In 2395, a cure was found. Once innoculated, a Lefyt is forever immune to the Orange plague. Getting everyone innoculated is still a problem.

On Tyzyev, it has become a custom to dress head to toe. Lefyt there usually shave or rid themselves of all body and head hair, and then wear all over clothing. This is to prevent skin to outside contact. Cleanliness is a big thing in Civilized Tyzyev. The Orange Plague organisms are resistant to common pre-war Lefyt anti-biotics. But wiping an area down with alcohol still kills it.

All public buildings have dispensers so Tysyev can wipe down their gloves and their outer suits. Weather permitting, the outer suits look something like surgical garb. A coverall of plastic materiaal, gloves, boots and hoods for the head.

In time stylish Tysyev made such suits in different colors and patterns. In hot weather, variations of the suit are worn with mesh in areas less likely to touch objects. Under the arm pits and so on.

When entering an unknown place or one confirmed to have seen victims of the plague, a plastic face mask with a breathing mask is added.

Even people in the wild lands dresss for full body coverage and use rubber or plastic gloves. It is common to carry a bottle of rot-gut and a cloth and to use those to wipe down new areas and new objects.

Although the Damyip war is over, they're still fighting the Orange plague and will be for some time until it is stomped out.

With the establishment of the Tysyev Provisional Government, effort it being made to reclaim the Wild lands. Sgt Baska and his people are taking the lead on this. There are fortified trading posts all through the wild lands. News is posted and search teams contact bands of survivors and invite them to join civilization. Although a lot of poor people flee the wildlands as soon as they can, some of the crime lords and war lords resist this. There are ideological rationalizations, but fundamentally it's about power and money and not giving these things up.

The Tysyev are discussing how to implement a Federation Style energy economy on Tysyev. It will take some infrastructure upgrades. Sivepar City is already building this. Damyip 14-5's preliminary plan is build up infrastructure in Sivepar and then transition that city to an energy economy and then begin building out.

Many councilors object to this because they see it as playing favorites with the people in the Damyip Zone. Others oppose it because it looks like economic black magic to them.

Damyip 14-5 is continuing work quietly until the situation can be resolved.

Damyip 14-5 aleady has places with fusion reactors and replicators in Sivepar city, but these are not widely known by the people far away.

Thumbnail JA3 - Tyozesot LP3

This is not a full write up of this one, since I have a fuller write up on my lost thumbdrive. This is just a basic description.

Tyozesot is Lefyt Scandanvia. Lots of Fjords, pine trees, and cold winters.

Lefyt from this world tend to be larger and chunkier than other Lefyt. They also tend to be stronger.

When the Damyip landed and took over a good number of Tyozesot fled into the hills and began a sort of "pre-Colonial revival". Cities were still intact, but firmly under Damyip 14-4's control.

There was not a lot of active resistance, but there was a lot of passive resistance and Damyip 14-4 learned to not send units into the backcountry without lots of support.

With the loss of space travel and air travel restricted, the Tyozesot rediscovered their love of ocean navigation. So sailing ships and fusion powered cargo ships ply the seaways of Tyozesot.

The natives of this world took up a "Damyip own the cities, we own the hills" mentality. Tyozesot are private people and very careful about where they really speak their minds. In public, they are silent, taciturn and large.

With the end of the war, Damyip 14-4 is trying to set up a mixed mode government, with partial success. The city dwellers are all in. But the people living away from the cities are suspicious of the whole set up and the Federation. Federation, Lefyt, and Damyip teams roam the backcountry looking for people willing to talk about their culture and how they see the world. The Tyozesot do not give up much.

Thumbnail Iponej JA2, LP2

Iponej was the old core world of the Lefyt Colonies. They didn't like to admit it. Propaganda of the time paints the Lefyt Colonies as a band of equals.

But this was after centuries of colonialism in various flavors by the Iponej. The Iponej language was the common tongue and Iponej styles ruled.

After conquering or dominating all rivals in the Lefyt system, the Iponej-ized Lefyt left their own solar system and began setting up colonies and setting up their Great Lefyt Empire.

Then the war with the Damyip started. It kept going and going and going. No one knows who started the war

Meta - it came about due to a misunderstanding between Iponej flavored Lefyt and the Ur-Damyip. The two sides yelled past each other and some officials in the Lefyt colonies cynically thought a short, victorious war would settle the issue and be good politics at home. After the war got out of hand, all records of who these people were and how they maneuvered things into a war were eliminated. Both the Lefyt outside this circle and the Ur-Damyip felt they were fighting an honorable war to defend their homes.

The cynics and corrupt bastards who started it this covered their tracks and disappeared into history, never taking the blame or responsibility for their epic blunder.

Early on the Ur-Damyip completely went for a racial Us vs Them mentality and began fighting very hard and advertising that they demanded total surrender. No conditions allowed.

Cynical Ur-Damyip rode that emotional wave into power and then when the war turned into a long stalemate, the Ur-Damyip Leaders discovered they needed to spend more time with their families and fled the political scene.

-*-

Beset with Patriotism backed by desperation, the Iponej decided to fight the Damyip. They paid for this dearly as their planet was bombed back into the stone age.

Damyip 14-3 took over and tried to find a way to administer the planet that didn't suck. The Iponej just wouldn't let that happen. It turned into Red Dawn Meets the Terminator Meets a Prison Movie.

Damyip 14-3 eventually was able to construct low-security facilities for Imponej people, but there was always a whiff of jail, because the Iponej were never shy about taking an opportunity to rebel, rise up, sabotage or be wantonly destructive to the Damyip.

Damyip 14-3 considered it progress when it was able to get to the point of the planet being a patchwork of Damyip and resistance control, with only some areas of wild lawlessness.

Over time some of the resistance bands actually talked to the Damyip, but negotiations were always tense and rarely all that fruitful.

When the war ended, Damyip 14-3 sent messages to all resistance bands and leaders, and brought in Darma, by now a very old Pre-War admiral.

Darma, the Federation and Damyip 14-3 made a persuasive and heartfelt plea to end the war and begin reconstruction.

The Iponej reacted with some hostility and disbelief but elected to give things a try. They are pro Federation. But they're not great fans of the Damyip. There is a Pax mission on Iponej, which is working with some survivors and refugees to build a modern town.

The Provisional government chronically argues about keeping the Damyip around. Most Iponej support asking the Damyip to leave. There are zones of the planet where the Damyip do not go, because they were asked not to.

But several civic leaders see how much the infrastructure of feeding people on Iponej depends on the Damyip and so block requests for them to leave. Damyip 14-3 is quietly drawing down the presence of occupation bots. It has built a set of transportation and labor bots that look more "Federation" Borrowing from similar Federation civil designs. People with the Orange left hands don't advertise what that means.

Largely, Damyip 14-3 is preparing to leave when asked. Even Darma, formerly a furious and staunch anti-Damyip warrior is reluctant to ask them to leave. Building a civilization with Damyip help is so much easier.

Iponej struggles because different Iponej people have different views of how a post-war Iponej will work.

Iponej is not a player in the Lefyt Sector, now. They quietly resent this especially when worlds that surrendered to the Damyip are now in the driver's seat.

Thumbnail Pytol JA1 LP 1

This is a thumbnail because a full write up in on my thumb drive... Somewhere.

Pytol looks like Lefyt Malaysia and Indonesia. They have a high sea level, so their world has numerable small islands and a few very large islands or small continents.

Because of the way the ocean and the atmosphere convect Pytol doesn't have ice caps the polar regions are temperate.

When the occupation of 2371 began, the Pytol surrendered. Like other worlds, they destroyed all records and had all government and military people fade into the population.

However, the goal was not to resist, but just survive. And they did, Damyip 14-2 moved in, took over administration and everything was quiet.

The People of Pytol just returned to civilian life. When Damyip 14-2 asked questions, the Pytol answered with the minimum of information. Commercial activities are hard to hide, so they weren't kept secret.

But who was who and who was important? That went behind closed doors and the Pytol adopted an attitude of "I have no idea what you're talking about" to the Damyip.

The Damyip became the cops and teachers no one would talk to.

At first, Damyip 14-2 was inept and clueless. But, in time it grew very sophisticated and knowledgeable. (Mainly due to its own passive intelligence gathering and experiences shared from other Damyip.)

The Damyip imported a set of sensible laws and began enforcing them, often using corruption and conspiracy charges to try and flip witnesses.

Damyip 14-2 was creative about gathering information, and used every trick it could think of.

The Pytol just hunkered down. All non-commercial business is handled quietly, inside their own homes. They became smugglers, tricksters, and fences.

The Pytol think the Uhxoz got it just right, and the Eosever were utterly wrong-headed. They see the Uodrust, Sudeqed, and Iponij as object lessons in picking your battle.

When the Damyip announced the Federation and the end of the War, the Pytol were, at first cynical. But before long parts of the Public Access Database were being exchanged and discussed.

The Pytol approached Damyip 14-2 to form a coalition Government, and it was agreed.

When the first Federation long-term missions arrived, they were conflicted about where to put HQ. Eosever was a distinct possibility. Damyip 14 quietly mentioned that it was ambivalent about the Eosever, so the decision was made to base Starfleet Operations in the system on Pytol.

Starbase Pytol (STB-800) is under construction and schools have started up to teach the Pytol how to do space travel.

There is still a problem in that the Pytol have a long habit of evading the government and not being forthcoming. Even with their own government, this is very often the case.

Admiral Enrod, the commander of the Federation forces in the Lefyt System is a former Lefyt Warrior and his status gives him a lot of pull in this regard.

It was his initiative to start engineering and starship crew schools on Pytol and then import students from all the Lefyt worlds to learn. Enrod's long-term goal is to establish Starfleet as the Pytol system's military, so it has Starfleet procedural and cultural checks against corruption or undue action.

To that end he is working on gathering materials and people to do Starfleet Basic training, Starfleet Advanced training and Officer's candidate training on Pytol and when it's finished Pytol Station.

Commissioner Agnes Guantou is the Civilian administrator of the civilian recovery efforts. In public, she is happy to let Enrod and the Damyip take the lead. In private, she holds their feet to the fire and demands that they systematically banish all thoughts of colonialism from their minds. She is their conscience in terms of keeping things "Star Trek" Enrod and the Damyip enjoy this about her.

Enrod, after a lifetime of fighting the Damyip, is secretly as happy as a clam to have them as allies now, Maybe too happy, but it justifies his old faith that somehow things can work out for the best.

There was a scandal on Pytol when the Infiltrator-bots revealed themselves. As with Uhxoz, they were all over the Pytol social structure in places you wouldn't expect.

The Pytol asked that all Infiltrator-bot be easily identifiable and this was the origin of the day glow orange skin tone. More recently the infiltrator bots with orange left hands and chameleon skin have become popular.

On Pytol a popular sport is Capture the Flag. On an obstacle course, two teams get a flag to defend and must try to take the other teams flag. Physical combat has a strict set of rules and resembles MMA fighting. The Sport rewards team fighting skills.

in pre-occupation days. injuries were common and death not unheard of. Successful teeams could become amazingly rich and famous so there were no end of aspiring "Flagmen"

One variant was called the "spread out" version. In it, teams ran a long foot race with obstacle courses, did target shooting and then engaged in elimination round fighting matches. Each person from team A fights one person from team B the loser is eliminated. Then the winners are matched up again for another fight.

There was a complicated sysstem of scoring which was altered from time to time by judges.

The team with the best score captured the flag.

Since the provisional government took over, a new variant has appeared. Teams use stunners to take down the opposing team in a zone that looks classical, but does not have the MMA style grappling and fighting the classic version has.

There are some teams who compete in many different flavors of the game.

Re: The Lefyt

Pytol Station and Starfleet in the Lefyt System.

Pytol Station has begun to sprawl. The goal of the station was to support Starfleet Operations in the area. It began life as a mobile temporary base.

There is a ground base a Port Cologon. It's an annex to Pytol station.

Pytol Station now has a bad case of Pods and Tinkertoys. Port Cologon and Pytol Station has three carrier pod just to support various Starfleet shuttles that now fly every which way, doing everything you can press a shuttle into doing. Add to that that Damyip 14 has been churning out a line of weird Lefyt/Damyip updated mixed design shuttles, and some reacrations of 40 year old pre-war lefyt shuttles.

And add Damyip utility and troop transport shuttles

So traffic control is an important function.

On one side of the "Pods and Tinker Toys" festival there is a Federation style starbase shaping up. A cylindical core with a big umbrella. Damyip 14 is building this rapidly.

Pytol station is one end of a patrol run for frigates who travel between New Canada, Deep Space 30, Starbase 904 and Pytol station. Some frigate and light cruiser also do loop patrols that begin and end at Pytol Station

So the station needs to be able to resupply starships and refuel them. There are anti-matter refineries closer into Orbit around Lefyt.

New Canada has a full ship yard, but in terms of people struggles to keep up with repair and refit requests. (about half of the Lefyt refugees who landed there are still there. They like it.) Both Lefyt and New Canada have big contingents of Xnida dinosaur people and G'Kra working as engineers and builders.

Pytol station sees occasional visits from Damyip patrol ships, but these mainly stick to Coralosa.

Pytol station also supports two 6 ship wings of fast attack ships. These are small ships with heavy starship weapons on the front. They very good for intercepting and discouraging pirate raids. They don't have the staying power to mix it up with heavy starships for long, but they can harrass enemies until bigger ships get there.

The Lefyt system has one old Excelsior class ship to act as an In System monitor, a big pirate discouragement, and a training ship for newbies.

Frigates often take aboard newbies as trainees on their patrols.

The Starfleet presence in the system is about 5000 people with another 5000 civilian contractors.

This is added to by Lefyt people and Damyip on the same missions.

Port Cologon is also a civilian city and so Starfleet people can experience Pytol culture an R&R there. It is becoming more cosmopolitan and typical port town by the day.
