Okay. I am going to use this to plan a Play By Post game I am running for Jerry

Feedback is welcome, but lets try and keep it positive, please.

Here is the basic set up.

The world is Faerun, from Forgotten Realms. Actually, It covers more than the classic Faerun Set up.

There's two pieces need to be understood.

Fringeworthy. This world is connected to the Fringepath System. It's one of the prime worlds, so it has six portals to the same platform. Good for travelling across the world but has it's limits.

In Faerun, in Cormanthyr, in the ruins of Mythdrannor is one of the Portals.

Currently. this area is held by the Cult of the Golden King.

The basic game is the "PC Replicator" thing. Gavin and Lydia are earth people who have memories of finding themselves in a Star Wars game that didn't work out.

So they're recycled into a FW game. (The fact that they are 3.0 copies should reveal that I have the PC replicator in mind for the 2.0 versions as well, but the game never got that far)

Gavin and Lydia picked up Geoff and Iago.

Iago is a cleric of the Golden King. He was a martinent of an NCO, but managed to hide this for a while.

Geoff was a civilian cabinet maker but was drafted by The Golden Army when they discovered he was Fringeworthy.

The Golden Army has "Drafted" Geoff's Wife and son. They are part of the support and dependants cadre at the Mythdrannor Foward Base.

In Fringeworthy A race called the Keegak are seen. They are small green humanoids, bald with green scaly skin and sharp teeth. They were a species of Velociraptor that was "Uplifted" to being sentient humanoids. They are social, but tend to treat outsiders... poorly.

The Keegak are an important part of the FW Lore. For our purposes they largely replace Goblins in the worlds connected to the Fringepaths.

One step up from the prime plate is the Alt plate.

The Alt Plate generically shows alternate timelines of the prime world one plate down.

In one alt world - Mythdrannor is an abandoned ruin. The world has suffered the magic plague. This is a curse. It's a piece of cursed magic that latches on to any other magic and eats it, growing more powerful. The more powerful the magic, the more powerful and fast acting the effect. So High level wizards and clerics get it real bad, days to live. They can use powerful magic to squash the symptoms, but that just causes the curse to come back worse.

There was a desperate plan to end this plague, which would have worked, but everyone died before they got it together. The PC actually have a copy of this plan. (It's a fetch quest to gather a group of artifacts and set up a magical nuclear bomb. Once detonated, it will flash reset all magic in the game world and destroy the curse. )

In this world, they encountered the Goblins (Greenies, AKA Keegak) and discovered they are *universally* fringeworthy. For some reason the FP lock out broke in regards to Keegak. All Keegak can pass through the portals. (There's a reason for this in the lore as well, but never mind that now)

So after this fact was revealed to the Golden Army, they sent out teams to "acquire" controllable Goblins. Controllable in this case meant that they have children and spouses that they care enough about for spouses and children to be useful hostages.

The Golden Army included "Hackuff" a "Greenie" with hostages in the base camp. The Golden Army is stuck here. They do NOT want Goblins to take over the Fringepaths, This could be a game changing resurce, but amost certainly it's nothing you want a rival in control of.

So Golden Army High Command is really uncertain what to do about this. Until they formulate a policy that "Advances the Mission" they're using what they have at hand to scout the Fringepaths

Hackuff and Geoff got a little mouthy with Iago on the fringe plate, about Iago let them know, their hostages are on the block for getting punished for Insubordination.

Gavin immediately captured Iago. He was sort of ignoring the problems between Iago and Geoff until he had more leverage. But Iago threatening the hostages was more than Gavin was willing to deal with.

So they put a bag on Iago and handed him off to a friend power. Now they are on a quest to liberate Mrs Geoff, Geoff Jr and Hackuff's hostages.

They have picked another portal on the prime plate. This has led them to Zakhara on the Aber-Toril map.

They arrived in a temple in the Spine of the World Mountains.

Currently the humans and allied people of Zakhara have declared Jihad against the Yakmen who inhabit the mountain range. The Yakmen have always considered humans invaders and perhaps a tasty treat maybe even a good sacrifice to their dark gods.

So it's not like a Jihad is not a reasonable response here.

The PCs have rescued an Army patrol and are escorting them to base. But the Spine of the World mountains are closeddue to mutual hostilities.

So Gavin, Lydia, Geoff and Hackuff will have to travel over sea and land to get back to Cormanthyr and to approach the ruins of Mythdrannor and the Golden Army Forward Base so they can free the hostages.

Right now I need to establish that the Party has gotten their friends in the Zakharan army back to base and are being briefed on the situation.

I figure from there they'll go to one of the "Free Cities of Zakhara."

https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki ... of_Zakhara

From there, they'll need to find a corsair who'll take them to the next stop.

But what's the next stop?

Of course, how Gavin sees this working will be up to Jerry and not me, so I'll have to adapt to that

Here are the Prime Portals to this version of Aber-Toril

PrimeEdit
1200 road to Alt

0100 - Locked - Shou Lung, terra cotta warriors defend ancient tomb

They visited this one. The temple of the gate was turned into a tomb, which is sealed. Since nothing obvious was going on, they wrote it off and locked it, which is good.

The temple is based on the tomb of the Terra Cotta warriors. However, if activated the Terra cotta warroriors will come to life and attack invaders. Terra Cotta golems don't sound too scary, but these guys have numbers on their side.

In the main gallery of the Tomb, not breached by the PCs, the ghosts of the people killed to keep the emperor company while away the long dark centuries. Near the blocked off main entrance, looters are in cages. They are dessicated skeletons, but the magic of the cages won't let them die.

But, rather than break through the sealed door from the Portal Chamber into the main gallery, the PCs left and locked the gate behind them, so this thing remains as is.

0200 - Locked - In the steep mountains World PIllar Mountains, Yak-men fight humans

Here, Yak Men maintained the temple of the gate under the misapprehension that it comes from their own dark gods. As the PCs came through they were able to fend off a push by the Yak-men. A narrow entrance meant the Yakmen had to come through one at a time, setting up a shooting gallery for the PCs with firearms. But after killing he first two squads o yakmen they fled with injured Zakharan army people and re ow on their way to Zakhara army base.

0300 - Blank

0400 - Myth Drannor

The Current "Main" Portal, leads to Fold Army Foward Base, where te Golden Army is fighting a sort of D&D viet Nam against evl monsters and antagonistic humanoids.

0500 - Locked - Maztican Pyramid, 28 days later
Maztica is a sort of D&D version of the Aztec Empire. 28 days later was a reference to a movie. Sort of Zombie Apocalypse. There was a fast moving, virulent disease which in humans just drove them berserk. Cranked the angry up to insane levels and broke off the knob.

So this implies that a disease like this has just hit the Maztican Pyramid and the surrounding city.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/28_Days_Later

0600 - Locked - Ancient Terhnelern city in the Desert at the foot of the sacred rock Osse

https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Osse

The Ancient Terhmelern city is jut ancient ruins.

0700 - Locked - Ancient Temple in Maltran Jungle. Dinorsaurs

No idea what I meant by "Maltran" there. Of course, what I meant by Dinosurs is pretty clear.

0800 - Locked - Ancient Dwarven complex. Abandoned and taken taken over by Orcs and Hobgoblins.

Obviously modelled on the Mines of Moria from the movies.

0900 - Blank

1000 - Locked - Trading city in the Under dark

This would be a sort of underdark Freeport. Drow and Druggar and other underworld types meet and trade. Of course everyone';s evil but humans visiting would be "Someone Else's Problem"

If they discovered just what the ring-gate was and what it led to, they would be VERY interested.

1100 - Locked - Thri-Kreen town around ancient complex on Anachrome.

So the gate they're at is actually the least dangerous and least distant from The "Main" one we've been focused on.
